|Composition||A Calculi Buster|
ENOTS: ENOTS contains following ingredients.Boerhavia diffusa (Punarnava) a potent diuretic and antiurolithiatic activity. Itdecreased the urinary levels of stone forming constituents, calcium and oxalate,and therefore minimized the formation of calcium oxalate crystals 1 .Pedalium murex (Gokhru) is an excellent nephroprotective 2 .Crataeva nurvala (Varuna) prevents stone formation due to the anti-lithogenicactivity and the anti-crystallization property. The drug decreases the urinary pHtoward acidic. The diuretic action of this drug attributes the metaboliccorrection of the serum and urinary electrolyte levels 3 .Tinospora cardifola (Giloy) has been reported to anti-oxidant activity, byincreasing the erythrocytes membrane lipid peroxide and catalase activity 4 .Dolichos bifflorus (Kulthi) prevented the CaC 2 O 4 crystal deposition as well aseffectively reduced the lipid peroxidation and restores the antioxidant enzymeactivity.Bergenia ligulata (Pashnabhed): Antiurolithic activity in Bergenia ligulatamediated possibly through CaC( 2 )O (4) crystal inhibition, diuretic,hypermagneseuric and antioxidant effects and this study rationalizes itsmedicinal use in urolithiasis 5 .Hedychium spicatum (Kapur Kachri) Methanolic extract of Hedychiumspicatum has shown antioxidant properties, which was due to the presence ofphenolic compounds 6 . Mimosa pudica (Lajwanti) root extract had nephroprotective, andnephrocurative activity which is due to the antioxidant activity of the extract 7 .Butea monosperma (Palash) prevented urolithiasis and reduced the growth ofcalcium oxalate stones, reduced the number of stone deposits, found effective inreducing the renal tissue injury, decreasing the crystal size, thus can simply beswept by urine and helps in restoring normal kidney architecture and weights ofthe kidneys 8 .
